Hemodialysis
Blood is pumped outside the body to an artificial kidney machine. The machine cleanses the blood and returns it to the body. Only a small amount of blood is out of the body at any time.
A “fistula” (the surgical linking of an artery to a vein) provides access to blood vessels. So does a “graft” (tubing surgically placed under the skin, linking an artery to a vein).
Two needles are placed into the fistula or graft. The needles are then attached by plastic tubing to a special filter. This filter is an artificial kidney called a dialyzer. One needle withdraws blood for cleansing. The other needle returns filtered blood to the body.
A pump pushes blood through the dialyzer. Blood passes on one side of the filter. Solution made by the dialysis machine passes on the other side. The solution draws excess fluid and waste out of the blood. A filter is used with pores large enough to allow waste to leave. Larger molecules like blood cells cannot pass through the filter. The average person receives three treatments per week. Each treatment lasts three to four hours.
We do maintenance hemodialysis, hemodialysis in ICU for acutely ill patients (including SLED), mineral bone disease management, renal anemia management, hemodialysis for HCV/HBV + patients.

Peritoneal dialysis
Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) Autonomic Peritoneal Dialysis (APD) Peritoneal dialysis occurs inside the body. It uses your peritoneal membrane (the lining of your abdomen) as the filter. For this treatment, a tube called a catheter is surgically placed through the wall of your abdomen. Special dialysis solution will flow into the peritoneum through the catheter. Waste products and excess fluids pass from the blood. They move through the peritoneal membrane, into the dialysis solution. Then, they are drained from the peritoneal cavity. Peritoneal dialysis can be performed by hand or by using a machine. Tubing and bags are worn only during the solution exchange.
Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD)
CAPD allows gravity to draw dialysis solution in and out of the peritoneal cavity, using system of tubing and bags. With CAPD, you connect tubing and a bag of sterile dialysis solution to the peritoneal catheter. By raising the bag to shoulder level or higher, the solution flows into the peritoneum. When empty, simply remove and throw away the tubing and solution bag.
During daily activities, the peritoneal membrane acts as a filter for your blood. Waste products and excess water transfer to the dialysis solution. After a few hours, you attach new tubing and an empty bag to the catheter. Then, lower the bag to drain the waste-filled filled fluid from the peritoneum.
Connect the tubing set to the catheter Drain out the used solution Fill with the new solution Disconnect the tubing set from the catheter Throw away the used solution, disposable tubing and bags.
The number of exchanges per day and length of time per exchange varies by person to person. Usually, CAPD is performed four times a day. Each solution exchanges last about half an hour. Assistants help people with problems using their hands to do CAPD.
Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD)
The second type of peritoneal dialysis, automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) involves a machine. You attach the tubing and solution bags to the machine. Before going to sleep, you connect the tubing to the peritoneal catheter. During the night the machine performs the dialysis. For extra therapy, dialysis solution remains in the peritoneal cavity during the day. The peritoneal cavity of most adults can hold two to three liters of fluid.
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Peritoneal Dialysis
Advantages
1) Patient very involved in self-care
2) Control over schedule/freedom
3) Less restricted diet
4) Typically, once a month clinic visits
5) No needles
6) More steady physical condition
7) Typically, no daytime exchange (APD)
Disadvantages
1) Four exchanges per day
2) Nightly machine exchange (APD)
3) Permanent external catheter.
4) Some risk of infections
5) Potential weight gain
6) Store supplies at home
7) Body image change
We conduct PD Catheter insertion, CAPD counseling and training.
AV graft procedures with AVF
An AV graft is done when a patient does not have a suitable superficial vein for the creation of an AV fistula. It is similar to an AV fistula, except an artificial graft (a tube made out of Teflon®) is used to connect an artery to a vein. The graft is tunneled underneath the skin, so nothing sticks out of the patient.
AV grafts are inserted much like AV fistulas are created. Instead of one small incision, usually two small incisions are made. It is still usually done under local anesthesia and patients usually go home the same day.
An AV graft can be used approximately three weeks after it's inserted. As with an AV fistula, hemodialysis access is achieved by way of two inserted needles. One needle drains blood out of the patient and into the dialysis machine so the blood can be filtered. The second needle returns the filtered blood back to the patient.

_Exceptional Vascular Surgical center from DaVita Nephrolife Dialysis centers in Bangalore, India
_
Vascular surgery is the
treatment of surgery on diagnosed patients with diseases of the arterial,
venous, and lymphatic systems (excluding the intracranial and coronary
arteries).
Purpose
Vascular surgery is indicated when a patient has vascular disease that cannot be treated by less invasive, nonsurgical treatments. The purpose of vascular surgery is to treat vascular diseases, which are diseases of the arteries and veins. Arterial disease is a condition in which blood clots, arteriosclerosis, and other vascular conditions occur in the arteries. Venous disease involves problems that occur in the veins. Some vascular conditions occur only in arteries, others occur only in the veins, and some affect both veins and arteries.
Vascular surgery involves techniques relating to endovascular surgeries including: balloon angioplasty and/or stenting, aortic and peripheral vascular endovascular stent/graft placement, thrombolysis, and other adjuncts for vascular reconstruction.
The vascular system is the network of blood vessels that circulate blood to and from the heart and lungs. The circulatory system (made up of the heart, arteries, veins, capillaries, and the circulating blood) provides nourishment to the body's cells and removes their waste. The arteries carry oxygenated blood from the heart to the cells. The veins return the blood from the cells back to the lungs for reoxygenation and recirculation by the heart. The aorta is the largest artery leaving the heart; it then subdivides into smaller arteries going to every part of the body. The arteries, as they narrow, are connected to smaller vessels called capillaries. In these capillaries, oxygen and nutrients are released from the blood into the cells, and cellular wastes are collected for the return trip. The capillaries then connect to veins, which return the blood back to the heart.
Vascular diseases are usually caused by conditions that clog or weaken blood vessels, or damage valves that control the flow of blood in and out of the veins, thus robbing them of vital blood nutrients and oxygen. A few common diseases affecting the arteries are peripheral vascular disease (PVD), carotid artery disease, and aortic aneurysms (AAA).
Surgery is used to treat specific diseased arteries, such as atherosclerosis, to help prevent strokes or heart attacks, improve or relieve angina or hypertension, remove aneurysms, improve claudicating, and save legs that would otherwise have to be amputated. The choices involve repairing the artery, bypassing it, or replacing it.

Many organs and body systems, including the study of a
discipline, urology can be
broken down into subclasses. Larger
centers and especially university hospitals, many urologists urology
expertise within a particular subdiscipline.
Endourology
Urology is the branch that deals with the manipulation of urine closure of Endourology. [2] It has recently grown to include all of urologic surgery at least. In contrast to open surgery, endourology is performed using urine is added to a small cameras and equipment. Transurethral surgery has been the cornerstone of endourology. Most urinary tract urothelium, stone surgery, and simple methods of ureteral tumors of the urinary tract and prostate surgery, surgery could be done through the urethra. Recently, laparoscopy and robotics in urology further subdivided by the branch.
Laparoscopy
Some of the fastest-growing branch of urology and laparoscopy replaced open surgery. Prostate, kidney, and ureter has been expanding this field of robotic-assisted surgery. Today, the number of prostatectomies in the United States carries out the help of a robot. Cost of surgery and the patient can vary greatly robotics or may not take advantage of the increase is proportional to the additional cost of this, however, has also created controversy. Moreover, robotic devices, the current (2011) market situation, a publicly held corporation [3] de facto monopoly over the issue of the impact of the fuel price.
Urologic oncology
Urologic oncology, such as prostate cancer, adrenal glands, bladder, kidneys, ureters, testicles, and penis surgery is associated with diseases such as malignant tissues. Type organs, cancer treatment (surgical or medical), depending managed by a urologist or Oncologist. Minimally invasive procedures (laparoscopy or endourology, robotic-assisted surgery) use.
Neurourology
Neurourology organs of the nervous system of control, and leads to abnormal conditions urination. Such as a stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury and neurological diseases and disorders of the lower urinary tract and urinary incontinence, detrusor overactivity, urinary retention, and detrusor sphincter dyssynergia as a result of situations can disrupt. Urodynamic studies are an important diagnostic role neurourology. Clean intermittent self-catheterization for treatment of bladder disorders of the nervous system, anticholinergic drugs, and advanced into the bladder wall and sacral neuromodulation Botulinum toxin is less commonly used treatment consists of the injection. Urological diseases cause neurological abnormalities, such as the best way is less marked, frequent urination, painful, or sensory abnormalities of the nervous system (eg, previously known as interstitial cystitis bladder pain syndrome) is thought by many researchers as a character disorder.
Pediatric Urology
Pediatric Urology urologic diseases related to children. Such diseases include cryptorchism (undescended testes), including, organs tract, enuresis, underdeveloped genitalia (the delayed growth or puberty is usually too late, because of an endocrinological problem), and vesicoureteral reflux congenital anomalies.
Andrology
Andrology focuses on the male reproductive system. It is mainly for male infertility, erectile dysfunction and ejaculatory disorders are related. Male sex hormones are, andrology overlaps with and is controlled by Endocrinology. The field of surgery fertilization procedures, vasectomy reversals, and which includes penile prostheses. Vasectomies, even though most urologists perform this procedure, which can be added.
Reconstructive Urology
Urology Reconstructive Surgery is a specialized area of distribution of a variety of structures, no action restores. Prostate procedures, full or partial hysterectomies, trauma (motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, industrial accidents, straddle injuries, etc.), disease, obstructions, blockages (eg, urinary strictures), and occasionally, labor, the need for reconstructive surgery may be required. Bladder, ureters (the tubes that lead to urinary bladder pindagalinda) and other examples of genital reconstructive urology.
Urogynecology
Urogynecology overactive bladder, pelvic organ prolapse, and urinary incontinence is a branch dealing with. Comprehensive knowledge of the female pelvic floor skills Urodynamic diagnosis and treatment of these diseases is necessary. Depending on the cause of personal problems, a medical or a surgical solution.

the most effective treatment for end stage renal failure.
A nephrologist is a physician has undertaken additional training to become an expert in nephrology. The systemic effects of impaired kidney function. To counteract the effects of kidney failure erythropoetin a bone stimulating agent may be required to make red blood cells, the production of active vitamin D supplements and to ensure the appropriate phosphate binders are required, and must be modified blood and electrolyte disturbances.
For example, auto-immune and inflammatory vasculitis, or rejection of the transplanted kidney disease, can be resistant to treatment. Commonly used agents prednisolone, mycophenolate, cyclophosphamide, cyclosporin, tacrolimus, everolimus, thymoglobulin and sirolimus are. New, the "biological drugs" or monoclonal antibodies, are used to this situation, and rituximab, basiliximab and joined eculizumab. Plasma exchange and intravenous immunoglobulin, and the process can also be used, including blood products.

dialysate urea and creatinine in the blood, which helps to remove the
substance's concentration gradient between blood and dialysate increases. The
concentration of the substance (such as potassium, phosphorus, and for urea)

concentration of the substance in the dialysate continuous changes to reduce

What is the difference between a psychiatrist, psychologist and psychotherapist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor with specialized training in the field of mental / psychological disorders. They can prescribe medicines to treat psychological disorders.
A psychologist is a person who has a masters or doctoral degree in psychology. There are many different kinds of psychologists, but only Clinical or Counselling Psychologists are qualified to offer therapy. Psychologsits treat mental disorders using psychological methods and cannot prescribe medicines.
Psychotherpists are psychologists or psychiatrists with additional training in a particular form of therapy for eg. Cognitive, behavioural or psychodynamic therapy..
